I Build the Names People Trust.

For more than three decades, I’ve helped founders, companies, and public figures earn trust, command attention, and scale with brands built to last—not just launch.

Stephen E. TerrellCreative Director · Brand Strategist

You’ve seen her face. Heard the words. Watched the moment.

Let me introduce myself.

I’m the one who saw a role for Betty White in a business few people understood. Who helped turn a difficult conversation about life insurance into campaigns people would actually pay attention to. Who eventually put America’s sweetheart alongside bodybuilders and a boa constrictor.

Some ideas require a little explaining in the budget meeting.

For more than three decades, I’ve worked behind the names, images, and stories people encounter: finding the possibility, making the connections, writing the words, choosing the talent, and directing the work.

My territory is where a business ambition meets an unexpected creative opportunity. A founder with something worth saying. A familiar face with an unexplored role. A company whose public identity hasn’t caught up with what it could become.

I give that possibility a strategy, a voice, a look, and a way into the world.

Your name out front. My imagination behind it.

Stephen E. Terrell.

The Lifeline Program · Betty White, a decade · CMO, 23 Years

For a decade Betty White put her face, her reputation and her voice behind campaigns I created — while I built The Lifeline Program from a two-person operation into a national brand.

An icon the country had known for sixty years, in a national campaign I wrote and directed. The client pulled it for funding four months after the launch date. Knowing when to step back is the whole job.

Staying Ahead

AI didn’t replace creativity. It exposed who actually has vision.

I’ve spent my career building brands, shaping stories, creating campaigns, and understanding what truly moves people. AI has changed the speed of execution, but it hasn’t changed the importance of instinct, taste, strategy, and emotional connection.

Today, anyone can generate content. Very few can create meaning.

That’s where I’ve focused my time — mastering AI not as a gimmick, but as a creative advantage. I use it to move faster, think bigger, visualize ideas instantly, and push concepts further than traditional workflows ever allowed. But the technology is only part of it.

Direction still matters.Human insight still matters.Experience still matters.

The brands that will win next won’t just look beautiful online. They’ll create real emotional connection, unforgettable experiences, and trust in a world becoming increasingly artificial.

I’m not chasing trends.I’m staying ahead of what’s next.

How to Engage

Three ways in.

I

Concept-Stage Consult

One room, one problem, before the brief hardens. Positioning, naming, campaign architecture — decided while everything is still movable.

II

Brand Reinvention

A defined engagement with a beginning and an end: reposition, redesign, relaunch. In, done, and out — with the work standing.

III

Fractional CMO

Senior marketing leadership without the full-time seat. Strategy, team, and execution, run the way a 23-year tenure taught me to run them.

Common questions

What people ask before they call.

What do you actually do?

I develop brands and campaigns for companies, public figures, and the teams behind them. Positioning, naming, campaign architecture and creative direction — the decisions made before anything gets produced, and the direction that holds while it is.

Who do you work with?

Founders and companies scaling something complicated, public figures and their representation, and the agencies and in-house teams already doing the work. Some engagements are a single room and a single decision; others run through launch.

Do you work alongside an existing agency or in-house team?

Yes, and that is usually the arrangement. I work with the team rather than around it: sharpening the brief, developing campaign directions, preparing concepts the team can take and run. I spent my career on the client side, so I know what a good agency needs from a client in order to do its best work.

What is creative direction for talent?

Turning a public profile into a brand that a partner can build a campaign on: what the person stands for, which categories fit, and what the work should look like. It is the same discipline as brand work, applied to a person rather than a company.

What is The Lab, and how seriously should I take its output?

The Lab is a demonstration, not a verdict. It reads public information and returns an illustrative creative direction so you can see how I think before you hire me. It does not confirm availability, audience quality, or an existing partnership.

How does an engagement start?

With a conversation about what you are building, who it needs to reach, and where the creative direction is missing. If it is a fit, I scope it; if it is not, I will tell you that instead.

Let's build the campaign people remember.

The Authority Behind the Name

Some of the most recognized names in the life settlement industry are recognized because I made them that way. For 23 years I was the marketing force behind The Lifeline Program — I took a misunderstood financial product and made it mainstream, and I took the principal on the door and made him a published, sought-after industry voice.

That was the long game, and I played it on purpose.

I put him in print and engineered the path there, because a published author clears a room at a national insurance conference that a salesman never gets invited into. The press. The television. The book. The celebrity campaigns a financial category was never supposed to get — Betty White, Barbara Eden. I built the spotlight, aimed it, and handed it to the name on the door.

If you’re scaling something complicated and need someone who did this before the playbooks existed — let’s talk.
